Used to use anim8or in 2008, I was like 11-12 years old (Despite the 73 and autistic-coded antisocial behavior in my handle, i'm currently 29 y.o. probably somewhere on the spectrum though)

I'm surprised this is all still around, and surprised that I could remember my login even. Love that the formatting feels exactly the same though. Just popping in to say "WOW" and thank Steve for developing anim8or. Also to apologize for being a cringey sweaty kid acting indignant about not having IK yet (I think I made a petition or something, it didn't come from an angry place really, I just didn't know forum etiquette or how intensive programming actually was yet) idk why but it felt like that was the barrier, and not the million other real internal hangups keeping me from improving.

Between '08 and '10 I tried transitioning to blender, but the UI scared me off as a kid, and my PC was garbage so I couldn't really run it. Eventually fell off working on 3d stuff altogether and just kind of kept my head down at work for almost 2 decades, effectively giving up on art as an occupation from 18 and up. I recently (this past Oct) picked up 3d modeling again, this time with a strong enough PC and attention span to learn blender, think I'm starting to get it now-- but without anim8or the idea that 3d modeling was something I could actually do wouldn't have been on my radar. Nor would the baseline knowledge I got from my brief use of it, and I just wanted to say thank you for that, if you're still active. Amazing that it worked on my ancient potato PC even by 08 standards, I think I was running bare-minimum specs on a hand-me-down, windows 98 OS and all that.

Thanks for the nice post,"not a people person" person. I'm really glad that you enjoyed using Anim8or.  I really enjoyed working on it. I, too, was overwhelmed by the complexity of Blender, Soft Image, etc. so I tried to make something more approachable, that didn't require 100 hours of training to learn. Anim8or would never be as capable as other programs, but maybe more fun to use.
