HMS Bounty
« on: May 23, 2014, 02:54:49 pm »

Captaindrewi (Sailing ships) asked me to post some stuff i've done in the past, to help others that may have ? so here go's.
All done in Anim8or. First off before you start any 3d project look for some good images.(I did mine by eye) but pdf schematics are a good start you can download them for free (you just can't print without paying for the key) But for 3d work its ideal just  use the snipping tool. highlight over the images you want and vala ref. image if you don't have snipping tool try irfanview with screen grab. Now I do have a site that the person did the best 3d work i've seen so far on a ship of the line(ill post in a bit)But it was done in sketchup (sorry for him) anim8or is still the best and not just because I like it. But it really is just better.

The link is here (and I wish I had seen this before I started)
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=333&t=41265&sid=7fe292055c88039c1736a45041f5f975
What I would have done differently (1) edge loops more like in the sails (2)alpha maks planes for rope and rigging may still do for ropes just to drop the poly count more

To be honest I think I prefer the way it looked before its textures. But I think that might be because of lack of proper lighting (shadows to be specific) so it becomes hard to see the details.
