Style-8or

Depending on what your next project is? ??? You may wish to mix various rendered styles. Anim8or mimics traditional 2d cartoons, so why not mix 2d and 3d.

Also, it is possible to mix flat shaded and imported cut out images with 3d backgrounds. You could also have 3d characters set against 2d or cut out backdrops.

Looks great. Love the idea. Will try something 2D/3D in the near future. The mind begins to boggle.... ;)   ;D

Here's my quick review ;)

I like the last picture the most, however when I read about 'mixing 2d with 3d' I was expecting to see something else from what where showcased in your video - something like that:
- a skeletal or hierarchical animation of planar objects in 3d space. I wonder how that would look when done in Anim8or - I've never tried that so far :)

It was the last picture, the little robotty thing on wheels, which stood out to me as well.
Interesting link for gamemakers there dwsel.  :)

Nice job, ian. I would hate to seem a bit coarse, so I won't give you my both-barrels opinion, but it's pretty good for an Anim8or commercial.

You mean taking 2d images and putting them through a matrix so you can have them rotate and other neat things like give them perspective (has been done for a long time and still can give good results :D )

I watched it again (out of boredom, waiting for something to render), I really like the part right before the end where everything shows up '2d-styled' on the brown lined paper. I was also wondering, Ian- what is your technique for lip-syncing?

We really do. Johnar's "Easy Eyes" has been perhaps the best demonstration of lip syncing I've seen so far. I'll be doing a lot of sound design for future stuff, but probably not enough lip syncing as I should... It's definitely worth the practice.

I decides to start trying a lip-syncing project; it's going fantastic! Sadly, the whole audio clip is about 0:45sec, and it took me 4hrs to get 0:11sec done. This'll be a looong project...

Hi guys. :)
 re lipsyncing. davdud101.
If you're doing it manually, ie;, writing down the words with the frame numbers next to them, there are some time saving tips. 1 of them is copying the morph.  If, for example, your character is to say "my mouth feels rather funny"... lets say if the 'm' for 'my' falls on frame 12, and the 'm' for 'mouth' falls on frame 20. Its faster to keep a note of where the first 'm' is, (frame 12), then when you get to frame 20, (m, mouth), go back to f12 and copy the morphs needed for 'm' and paste into frame 20.
So, if m is on frame 12, then on frame 10 there would normally be a '0' corner key '2 frames before' the m, and probably another 0 key on about frame 14 or 15. So you need to copy those 3 keys.
Takes a little practice, but if your character has a lot to say, then after a little while, you may have taken note of several morphed phenomes positions on the timetrack. (it just gets easier and faster). So, as a short example, although "my mouth feels rather funny" has five different words to lipsync, in actual fact you only need to manually key the 'm' and the 'f' once. ('m' my, and 'f' feels). then they can be copied for 'm' mouth and 'f' funny. (and any other time in that scene that requires an m or an f.
 Hope that makes sense.
Good luck. Happy to help out whenever.  chow for now.  :)
