Adding objects at certain points of the animation
« on: March 18, 2008, 11:35:41 am »

Sorry to be asking such a simple question, but how do you add an object to a certain point of your animation?
As in, say you only want the object to appear 20 seconds after your animation starts
i've read through the manual, it doesn't have anything on doing this, either that or i must have missed it..
build>object adds the object to throughout the whole scene.
also, how do you remove an object from a scene at a certain point(opp of starting question)?
help is really appreciated. thanks

There are actually a couple ways to do this.  One is to originally have the object "off camera" and key it into position at the frame where you want it to be visible.  The other is to key frame the object's visibility.  If you double-click on the object, there will be a "visibility" option that you can alter.  A value of 0 for the key will make the object invisible, while a value of 1 will make it visible.

And before you ask, Anim8or does not yet support visibility fade-in or fade-out, even though there are ways to accomplish that, as well.

Use the visible option from the object. Double click on your object in scene mode and you will see a check box with visible. Click on the dots next to it, here can you keyframe the visibility of your object: 0=invisible 1=visible.

Or you can work with clips in the way they shoot real movies. A clip without the object. A clip with your object and so on. Then put all the clips together in a video editor, add music, titles and the finishing touches.

I'm working on an animation right now that's already 3.5 min long and I'm far from finished yet.
