Half Life 2 Funny Movie
« on: March 12, 2008, 07:49:18 am »

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of the game 'Half Life 2'. Well I want to make a funny movie out of it. I was wondering if anyone could help me. (I am only doing it to show my mates it). If anyone wants to help, can they just say. I want to make really good models using Anim8or. So for those people who want to help, can you make some exact (Try your hardest) models of these images below. And once you have finished them can you send me the models using this forum. Please. Thanks

Spicy, if you want to show off to your mates why don't you show them your own work instead of the work of others. "Try your hardest" and you can do it.

yeah, if you want to get used to making this stuff instead of using other's work (gets very expensive) i would start creating basic figures and sequences now, and soon you'll be able to even add your own style to your animations

sorry if this sounds like a lecture, but it's great to do it all yourself

I have used Anim8or for 1 year, I have read the manual and mostly everything to it. I am good at making objects but not models (I started to make a face with one of the Tutorials but the file became corrupt and I lost everything). All I am asking is for some help...Please. I am already creating houses and the citadel for Half Life 2 funny movie. Please if you can, anyone. Can you make the models above (Thats of you ant to help me). I can't do it all by myself, I need team work. That will get things done alot easier.

yeah, it's good to have a project, but most people will want to be credited for their work, and you need to be a trustworthy member, most people might not do it yet, since you'r quite new, look around the forum, see if there's some work you like, and get to know the creator a bit, you might even get a couple of people helping you.
Remember, don't just use them for their models, people can tell when you're faking nice.

3D Joe Wiltshire I can see where you are coming from, that's fine seen as we don't know each other but i am a down to earth honest person. What I was planning to do was to make a Half Life 2 funny movie, get people intrested, ask if they would help with the modeling, be involved with the project (Checking back with them). And finally showing everyone what WE have created (As a TEAM). Yeah I know I am new, I try to get to know people as often as I can. But for people who would like to help create the models please do so. Everyone shall be credited for thier work, becuase (As I know) the world doesn't revolve around me ,it includes everyone. So yeah i see where you are coming from. But anyone who wants to help, create the models do so and give me the Anim8or file so I can proceed with the animations. Thanks

One of the problems as well can be people not knowing if you'll follow through.  There have been MANY attempts at projects with anim8or, and many of them have failed or never gone through.  People haven't had enough dedication and/or organization a lot of the time to even finish projects of their own sadly enough.  Of course it's nothing against you, and nobody's saying that you wont follow through.  Still, just because you say you will follow through wont convince everyone because people have said that and dont do it.  I'd say the best way to get people to help you is first to show them a good deal of progress.  If you can finish the models of the citadel etc. or show the progress and your dedication, then perhaps they'll follow.
I'd still advise modeling the characters yourself though.  Otherwise, how are you going to learn?

Good Idea hihosilver! That's exactly what I shall do. i shall show everyone what I have created towards the project. I have been practicing with the models, though I need someone more experienced with modeling to help me (To create those models at the beggining of this forum) I am more concenrating on the houses and Citadel. I still need people to make the models for me though. Thanks

I may be able to help when my vacation't over.
You gotta promise you'll go through with this, though. Too many big projects have just died because the leader is MIA, or bored with it.

Maybe go to a modding forum instead. I'm sure someone out there has already hacked Half Life 2 and extracted those EXACT models in some format or another. You should be able to get them and use them (import into an8 format first).

I agree, it comes off as rude to start a thread and say 'do this for me' :S

......to continue my previous post, another reason for these types of projects being abandoned is that the members give the starter too much crap.
"This won't take off"
"It's impossible"
"DO IT YOURSELF"
Are among the most common. I just hope some members hear me out here. I'd like members to be able to just make fun projects people can work on.
