I brought this idea up elsewhere, but have chewed on it further, and was thinking...

Wouldn't it be cool if we had a medal/award/skill ranking system, where anim8ors could submit works for review to show attained abilities in various aspects of anim8or, such as... Modelling, Texturing, Morphing, Scene-Building, Full Production, etc?

Would be fun, I think, and if anyone wants help developing such a thing, I'd be glad to chip in - create categories and conditions, design medals, etc...

I don`t think that will work on this site arik, firstly the moderators will need to be able to give awards where appropriate, and I do not think that they have access to those permissions, secondly there would need to be a modification to the forum to accept awards, I have been trying to get Youtube embedding on this site without very much success.

The Smf version here is no longer supported and only receives security fixes ad-hoc.
The latest Version of SMF is 2.0 RC3

All these things are part and parcel on Animanon besides a  whole host of other "goodies" download system, Member gallery, Helpdesk, flv?wmv/Youtube Video embeddingin posts, 3DRealtime viewer (via 3dVia) CUG to name just a few.
All of these features do NOT add anything to my bandwidth

I agree, and that's one thing I miss about the old anim8or.org, it was nice having awards (simply for competitions as well, as it encouraged participation.)  I would say that at this point what kreator said is entirely correct.  Perhaps at some point though we can improve the forum system here for that.

The problem about adding new features is that steve has to update the whole forum. A award system would be nice but steve will have to agree first.
