WOW, I've seen a lot of wonderfull works here (I LOVE $imon's Ball, modelling and materials are easy but the result is amazing, respect)
Here is my one, ... after a lot of tests.
The An8 file contains the not yet subdivided model, the "Ball5" picture is the modell subdivided 2 times, and the "Fleur" picture is the texture I used for the Cubemap

Awesome job so far by everyone!  We're getting a great collection of ornaments.  Remember, you only have 4 days left to submit an ornament (you can make as many as you want of course!)

I bet you could just throw this at the tree and it would stay.

Awesome stuff!  I'm loving the creativity and diversity of the ornaments.  It should look great!
Remember there's only one day left for you to get your ornaments in, then I'll see what I can do about a render with them on a tree!
Keep up the good work.

I made a disco ball :P.

It uses actual reflections though, it should be simple just to assign it a cube map that was given for another ornament.

As my very minor contribution (I have no time for anything dammit) I have constructed some simple lights for the tree.  At the moment the lights are separate objects, since I would need the tree model to wire them all up, but I have included a wire loop if you wanted to rig them up with wires (it would probably be unnecessary, just positioning the separate lights would probably be the simplest option).

I have assumed that the final render will be animated, so I have included scripts to control the flashing of the lights.  One version (scene01) has all the lights flashing in unison, the other (scene02) causes the lights to flash in sequence.

This render was done with Scanline and at this stage there are no ART attributes included in any of the materials.  Not having the tree to play with I have made guesses regarding the light range attributes.  Should you decide to use these lights, please feel free to modify the materials and light settings, and anything else, accordingly.

Whoo baby!  Well done Ensoniq, that's brilliant.  I'll see what I can do, for now I'll keep it as a still scene, but animating it definitely sounds like something that should be done! (probably without ART though :/)
