im trying to follow jebs tutorial on toon rendering. but i cant get the black out line to show in the render. im thinking mabe the new up grades in anim8or negate this effect. can any one tell me why this isnt working and/or how i can get this effect.

It's because you're rendering with the ART raytracer.  Sadly, the ART raytracer does not render the back of faces in attempt to be more realistic.  Therefore the trick doesn't work anymore.  So, if you want toon outlines you'll have to change it back to scanline and render it that way.

One quick side-question, is there a reason you changed the render into a gif?  It seems to have lost a lot of quality that way.
