I've created this ashtray by using splines/Lath. I seek a way to make the valleys for the cigarettes. also, how to conveniently subtract an object from another one (cylinder from sphere, etc)

This is a problem that could be solved using booleans. But unfortunaly anim8or doesn't support those. So you will have point edit you object manually, using cylinders. There are tutorials how to do this: look at the tutorial page, the link is on the left <-------------. And on MP3d's site is a tutorial: http://www.mp3d.info/Anim8ortutorials/page2.html

For some reason people also overlook Terranim8or in this situation.  Leslie did implement boolean operations in the most recent version, and that's what you'll be looking for.  though honestly often times it's best to do manually.  You'd have to go about things differently though, such as nowhere near as many divisions in the lathe.

Version 7 should have booleans.  I believe you do have to download the plugins as well, and booleans is one of those.

I thought to remember that terranim8or has booleans, but when I looked I couldn't find it. So i thought I was wrong. XD
