Hole Appears in Subdivided Mesh
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:46:03 pm »

I've come across a few problems in my modeling with anim8or. In some objects that I have made, when I use convert to subdivided on the object, a hole appears in the mesh that I can't get rid off.  :( Any help would great appreciated. :)

some were around were the hole is in your mesh you have a line that has three or more faces on it. this may have come from you merging two objects together into one object and merging the points together. the lines may be connected but the extra faces are still there. double click on the object, set the subdivided object to 0 and convert back to mesh. find were ever the hole was in the mesh and drag group select some lines in that area. find all the lines that are purple (not red) and delete them. this will get ride of the extra faces. then re-fill any nessary hole in the mesh then subdivide the model again. the hole should be gone. if not there are more lines that have more than two faces. sorry for the long post but hope this helps.

There may also be double points where there are two points in exactly the same place, but since they're not connected, there is a hole in the mesh.  So another thing to do is to drag select[/url] the points that form the hole and go "edit>merge points" or press "shift + l"
