I'm having a hard time w/ anim8or.
« on: July 13, 2008, 10:16:33 pm »

 >:(
Hey, y'all. I'm pretty experienced with anim8or, but i've hit a big @!# speed bump.
It deals with figures and assigning bones.
when i assign a bone, and i give it spinning axis... because it's for a human model i'm making. Here's how it looks so far, but i've added another arm:
http://a639.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/50/l_4e771794e3f3128d5e14cc5b86e037c6.jpg"
when i add the axis on figure mode, it rotates like it supposed to.
But when i go to sequence mode to make sure the figure moves like it supposed to, it only rotates one of the two axis that i use... why is that? and can someone help me?

Are you using different mouse clickers?  They rotate the bone on different axis.  For example, the left mouse button does the x-axis, I believe the right clicker does y and the middle clicker or 'alt + right clicker' does z.

Also try changing the view you're working in (left, right, top, bottom, etc...).  If you can't get a bone to rotate the way you want it to always try using different mouse buttons and chang the view.   Hope that helps.

And when all else fails, go to the bottom of the screen, hit the plus sign, find the bone you want to manipulate and its specific axis, and enter the value manually.

make sure that when you working on the bones rotation that you check the box next to which ever angle you're using (x,y, or z)

Most all of the information you'll need to get started you'll find here.
I advise you read the whole thing and play with the tools as you go.  Nobody can just magically learn by themselves, the fastest way to understand the program and to improve is to use the manual for help and follow tutorials.  Once you understand the concepts taught, dive into your own projects!

in the long run trying to move bones with the mouse is pointless.

Just try to imagine in degrees where you want the bone to go then use the key input to place the value.

95 degrees...(too much)?

decrease to 90 degrees ... and vice versa.

After you get the hang of using the key input then animation becomes MUCH easier.

(One major problem with Anim8or is Animation! for beginners)

Oh and skinning... Painted weights and and bubbles just suck.

(sorry just telling the truth) I like Anim8ors simplicity so I tend to use it for moding (and I'm stubborn) but I would really like to be able to attach verteces to bones manually.

What do you mean about painted weights?  The point of them is to allow you to attach vertices to the bones manually.  What could improve them?
