Low Poly Girl Exersise (even lower than normal for me)
« on: March 12, 2014, 01:00:37 pm »

So guys, I found a neat website that allows anybody to freely sign up to sell anything digital, that includes 3D models. And so, I think I want to try my hand at making a series of models that go on that site for sale. I'm thinking that I want to sell models that progressively get more detailed in polycount starting with the bar set at <500.

This took me maybe 2.5 hours to make. I think it came out pretty well formed considering that low number of polygons. What do you think?

Hard to really say. The meat of a low poly model resides in the texturing. Are you counting polygons or triangles?

That's true, but I have a pretty good history when it comes to texturing.

Fashioned the template into Suguri from From Orange Juice's Suguri line of games.

I like the way you've done the hair, I assume it's alpha mapped.

Indeed it is alpha mapped.

Sooo to test how modular model this is, I retextured it into another Doujin character, Reimu from Touhou. (Yes, apart from the hair and bow, this is the exact same model, the apparent differences in polygons are maintained for both models and simply 0 alphaed away) :

-EDIT-

I also did Ib from the Japanese Horror Game of titular name!

Nice variations. However, make sure you are reporting the triangles for low poly/real-time models, since triangles are definitive and polygons are not, and it's the standard anyway.

Your latest work is nice, though her butt seems to be angled in too much too high.

Regarding the works in general, the texturing feels a bit bland. It'll help if/when you pose them, but I think you'll have to sweeten the deal by offering animations in fbx/dae format as well, if you wish to compete with the other artists for paid royalties.

Anyway, props for trying out selling your models. I wish you luck.

Well, I don't want to compete with other artists, which is why I'm using DL site instead of say, turbo squid. I contacted them and they said that most of the time people don't submit 3D models as products, none the less they will get buys as long as they are cute.

Here I've fashioned it into Hatsune Miku the Vocaloid:

I think that's enough fanart, onto my OC's.
