I've never tried exporting animations, but if you click Sequence>Export in the sequence mode (or Scene>Export in the scene more), you can save your sequence/scene as a .3ds file - that may be what you're looking for ;)

As for the .x files, you have to use a plugin to export your models, but ASL plugins are currently enabled in the object mode only so you can't export an animation...

Well I tried it - so far no luck - has anyone done this..

I can load the the image.. but no animation to it.. it tries to read it..
I can load other files that have animation that work fine.. .3ds to .x file

It dont seam to be saving the animation to the .3DS or saving as a different format than 3ds

Any ideas or is this something that may be added ?

or if someone wants to make a example of an animated object for testing..
I tried the bird walk example ... just post and I will test to see if it works..

Anim8or does not natively export animation data into .3ds files or any file for that matter. The only solution that worked for the most part was Texel's Ani2Pov program that has the option to export to the ASCII MS3D (milkshape3d) format. Then you can use milkshape3d to export to animated .x or .3ds.

The only downfall is that currently you can only export figures that have one vertex per bone (that is, non-skinned figures where a bone is assigned a single mesh). Click the below link to read the topic on it:

Well it would be a nice feature...  ???

Tried MShape - and not a big fan ..

Thats why I am asking.. I like anim8or .. its pretty straight forward..
I have made some nice objects for a game.. would just like to finish with the animated characters.. instead of going to another tool..

I gues I will look at other tools and load my characters and use it... :(

I like keeping things simple...

Food for thought: http://www.insanesoftware.de/index.php?page=home.php

Free animation software apparently exports to .3ds and .x and some other formats. If you just want an animation solution to add to anim8or then perhaps something like that would do?

Sorry but no, I've never had to deal with the formats it exports to. I have seen it surface up in game dev-related areas since it first got authored and it seemed somewhat popular. Let us know what you think of it!

Well so far so good with the Zombie and Ninja example from the website
...

but need to figure out how to split the animations and save into 1 x file.. It just loops through them..

I have programed keyboard# 1,2,3,4,ect.. to load different animation sets in the files
works with all other formats... but not this one... so far..

But its a start... If anyone has any sugestions...
