cannot see the model at the bottom part
« on: February 04, 2013, 04:18:50 pm »

Hi,

I am trying to make a model at the front view.
How ever, i cannot se the bottom part(down part) of my model, because the grid size is too big.
Is there screen scroll bar at the right side for me to scroll down, or any way to change the grid size?

thank you.

Try Arc Rotate button next to the Materials button.
Place your mouse inside the green circle.
Right mouse button will 'pan' the window.
Left mouse button will 'rotate' the window.
Middle mouse button (or alt right mouse button) will 'zoom' the window.

If you start inside the little green squares you can rotate on the X an Y axis.

Options > Grid menu sizes the grid.

also if you have a num pad, make sure numlock is on, and press 2, which will make the camera look from bottom side (you see the bottom).
Other numpad keys follow;
numpad 3: perspective view (3d view)
numpad 4: left view
numpad 5: front view
numpad 6: right view
numpad 7: back view
numpad 8: top view
numpad 9: orthographic view

To add on to what crash said...
In the arc rotate mode, left clicking outside the green circle will pan the camera back and forth.
Right clicking out side the green circle will rotate the camera on its z axis.
Also, right clicking on the tiny squares aligned at the top, bottom, left and right sides of the circle will rotate the camera on the according axis only (e.g. clicking on the left or right square will allow you to rotate the camera left and right but not up and down).

To be honest, this is the best camera control interface I have ever come across in an application. I wish more applications had fluent camera control like anim8or :D

Simplest method within front view: Click the icon that looks like an eye (just to the right of the arrow tool button) and click the button with arrows pointing in all directions.  Then just click anywhere in the screen and drag the window about.  Additionally, the button with the square and two diagonal arrow pointing inwards allows you to zoom in and out in a similar way, with the mouse left button.

I personally think that's the worst and least simplest method, but whatever works for you.

It has the advantage of not changing the view mode, which is more or less what the OP was asking (I think).  You're quite right though, everyone has their own preferences (sometimes weird... for example I refuse to load any modelling scripts since I enjoy the challenge of modelling everything myself.  Even screw threads.  I know, it's sick!) and I love that Anim8or can accommodate that with such a simple interface.
