Really wierd render bug
« on: March 26, 2008, 07:14:33 pm »

I don't know what happened but I was rendering something using ART and this is what it turned out to be.

This was not what I was rendering so I don't know what happened.
I should have looked more into it but instead I restarted anim8or. Sorry
Just wondering why this would be there.
I also tried to render from other angles and it was as if instead of the scene I was in those two spheres were there. and also at one point I rendered and all that came up was a very dark green render with nothing else there.
Thanks.

Can't give any help without a file, more images or more info I'm afraid.  What were you trying to render?

The problem is I exited anim8or right away. Which I shouldn't have done.
It was the glass file from the post on .org of a couple of materials for ART.
I'll try to reproduce it and if I get it again I'll keep anim8or open.
Really I can't give you any more info. b/c I don't even have any so we'll see what happens.

So far I havn't been able to reproduce the bug.
If this happens to anyone else. DON'T exit out of anim8or. Keep it open and try to figure out what the problem is.

Heh, heh.  There are a bunch of canned images that I built into Anim8or when I was first working on the ray tracer.  They are supposed to be disabled in release builds but apparently it didn't happen.

To render these tests on your computer, click the Options->Debug->DebuA command.  Each time you do that it will cycle to the next build image.  (You need to do a render to see it, of course.)  You will need to exit Anim8or and restart it to get back to normal.

These tests are old.  They might not work and don't cover every material.   But you might have fun looking at them :-)

Oh Now I remember. That's what I did.
Okay thanks
are you going to remove them in the stable release?
By the way I looked through all the rest of the Debug A images and those are some nice desighns that you made Steve. You should have showed them off to evryone.

Yes, I'll probably remove this.  Maybe I'll try and make an Anim8or project with some of the test cases in it.
