I don't think I will make the dead line by Dec 20. Each of my frames will take about 1 hr and so far all I have is 15 seconds. So when I start to render it will take about 18 days and that's with no sound.

Hmm

Well that is a bummer!   Try: taking out your bump maps, reducing the size of your textures, and dropping off the aa.

Are you rendering at 640 by 480? That's large enough.

A lot ofn the time aa is wasted on youtube.

Also, if you have parts of objects that don't need to cast shadows, eg a landscape under a house, make them seperate meshes and makes sure only receive shadows is ticked - not cast shadows.

it all helps.

Thanks Francesco. You are very observant! I do my meshes aand modelling and texturing in anim8or cause it is a great program But sometimes I do my renders in Carrara. Carrara has something called volumetric shadows that you can set up, so you can simulate a beam of light and a shadow in that beam of light.  It also has a light cone effect which I used as well.

Manic archer had a great tutorial on the old old org site but I can't fins it I'm sorry, but he achived a similar effect!

Have you seen

? It has some great stuff.

cheers

Ahh, too bad I don't have any other stuff to play with than Anim8or... I think I'll dig that tutorial and I'll do my own trial and error - as usual.

Thanks for the pointer, and about Carrara... don't worry, I won't tell anyone ;)

Cool works by the way, put apart one of those metronomes for me, I love it.

640 x 480 will speed things up but when reduce the aa to 9 it looks a little grainy, but i guess when it's moving you won't see it as much. I render stills just to see what it will look like at certain points.

Thanks!

If you have a dual or quad core running you can render two/four movies at ones. This will speed up the render time alot. However you can't do much else on your computer then since it's running at 100%. So gaming in the main time isn't an option ;)

Thanks for watching Lynn (sorry I didn't see your reply insert emberessed icon here)!

I thought I might get a bit of dali in there but the melting clock kind of wore me out ....

Didn't you ever wonder what was behind magritt's faces?

You know the ones with the sheets on their faces were related to the murder of his mother...... very interesting.

cheers again

BTW your site is looking very good.

Thanks Headwax, can I say that your site is "not bad" either ;)

I thought Magritte's mother killed herself, but then that's neither here nor there.

I sort of like his work though I'm not a huge fan of it, I am merely an ex-compatriot but expat for many years.
