General Anim8or Forum / Re: Running Anim8or on 64 bit Windows 7 (sort of)

Thanks for all the advice. Sorry I'm getting back to this so late.

OK, I got Anim8or running correctly under Windows 7 64 bit.

The problem apparently was the  display driver. When I went to the Intel site, they did an online check and recommended their latest driver.

I downloaded it and installed and now everything works well.

I still have the compatibility set to Windows XP. Maybe I should clear that out and run in Windows 7 mode, but I've learned not to wake any sleeping alligators.

Again, thanks,

HArnold

There is no error message, the rotating circle spins for maybe 10 seconds, then it is as if nothing ever happened. No firewalls, and UAC is still here, tried all combinations. Older versions don't work either. I'll probably just have to wait for a newer version ... and wait I will, this program is worth the wait.

General Anim8or Forum / Running Anim8or on 64 bit Windows 7 (sort of)

Hi, I've been using Anim8or since Windows 98, always ran on every new computer and every new operating system ... until I got my Compaq CQ60-615DX (Intel Celeron 64 bit.) Of course the XP emulator required upgrading to a more Pro version of Windows 7 at $100+, and as I see it it's a pig in a poke, no guarantee that will fix anything. I've tried everything, from latest driver to running in every compatibility mode there is, and no joy.

However, if I run in safe mode (F8 while starting) Anim8or will run. The aspect ration for the screen is off, but I can adjust that later in Poser for instance. Of course this requires rebooting every time I want to run Anim8or, which is a pain.

I am assuming that something in the non-essential services or maybe even the video driver is the culprit but I'm not sure how to go about narrowing it down. I have turned off services one-by-one and that doesn't arrive at a configuration that will run Anim8or ... I don't know if I'm asking for help or offering advice at this point. But this is my story for what it's worth.

Thanks for the time,

harnold
