General Anim8or Forum / How to get this model to work with anim8or
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:55:47 pm »
I have downloaded a model of the star trek phoenix like the one seen in First Contact from http://www.trekmeshes.ch/. I tried all the formats. There are no textures with the 3ds, lwo and obj files provided. The Blender file looks good in Blender, but will not work properly when I export as obj. When I open the exported obj in anim8or the textures are there, but there are an insane amount of them (over 22,000) and they do not appear properly and I cannot work with them in anim8or. The program goes to not responding, sits there like that for sometime then moves on. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue or find a different model somewhere that will work better? I searched and could not find it anywhere else

General Anim8or Forum / Export as .cmod problem
« on: August 31, 2016, 12:31:53 am »
I have been working with a model of a star trek nebula class starship in anim8or. I had to convert it from lwo to obj. When I export as .cmod and view it in Celestia the top part of the saucer section is transparent. This does not happen when I use it as .3ds though. I have done work with both flipping normals and fixing normals with no luck. Does anyone here have a idea of what maybe wrong and how to correct this? I want to use it as a cmod because the glow from the nacelles and bussard collectors are more apparent as a .cmod.

Also anim8or does have the capability to import .lwo, but most of the time I get an error message stating that "LWO object is missing" Does anyone here know why this happens and how to correct it if possible ?

Thank you everyone for your help with other issues I have brought to this forum. I have learned a great deal from all of you.

Thanks for the tips. I got it now. I think converting to .cmod format helped too

How can I make a part of a 3d model appear as though it is illuminated from within? I want to create a glowing appearance coming from a part of the model.

What version of LWO does Anim8or support? So far I have not encountered any.

Just an update. I was able to convert it and get it to look good without patches on windows. Had to convert to obj then use anim8or to tweak textures and convert to cmod. Thank you.

I have used that, but I keep getting this problem. See the pictures below. Note the areas around the windows. For some reason I cannot get rid of the patches around them, even after fixing normals or even flipping them.

Help please? Can someone convert this LWO file for me? Even though Anim8or has LWO in the drop down for importing, it will not import these files. I have obtained permission to use this, but cannot get a good conversion of it anywhere. I have also included the textures here.

I have a model of the Uss Equinox. It is good except that the text that appears on the top and bottom saucer sections is fragmented (see attached image). I have also included the model and textures here for you all to examine. Thank you.

Ok. I got a real mouse and spent many hours with no success. This is frustrating. I hate to ask to be spoonfed this, but can someone do this for me with the proper markings and textures and attach it here? Or at least provide a video or written instructions for working with this specific model? I have attached the model and textures below.

General Anim8or Forum / Working With lwo Files
« on: April 07, 2016, 01:38:16 am »
When I attempt to open the file attached below (Runabout_SP.lwo), I receive the following messages from Anim8or: “Missing LWOBJ” and “Error Reading file”. Why does this happen? I encounter this every time I attempt to use a lwo file in Anim8or. I think part of the problems I am encountering with using 3d models and getting proper textures to display is because I have had to convert lwo files to work with them and use them with Celestia. lwo files will not work with Celestia and I cannot get them to work with Anim8or even though Anim8or has "lwo" in the drop down box for importing. I have also included the textures below, all as originally downloaded from the internet. Help please.
