General Anim8or Forum / Re: Need help - Color
« on: October 10, 2015, 11:10:38 am »
Now using Build 1185
Next problem, Added color in MODE>Object, using MATERIAL EDITOR>Surface Properties>Two Sided. Looks as expected in OBJECT. BUT only with RENDER>RENDERER...>Scanline. But NOT with ART and OpenGL, they don't set different colors on each side.

Is that normal?
Thank you

Thank you - good info.
1) Rudy, Very nice, had not seen this (  http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php/topic,5281.0.html ) So did you finish the explanation?
2) ENSONIQ5, good description. This is what you told me the best: " move both parent and child in a single frame you are moving both the child's reference AND the child's position relative to that reference ". Therefore if I move both together say 5 units, the child moves 5 with the parent and 5 with-respect-to (wrt) the parent, so the child moves 10 units.

What was distracting me was the version (0981) didn't have the child under the parent in MODE>Scene, timeline. The latest beta version (1185) has the child under the parent.
Thank You

Need more Help, can only read the documentation and forum so long before signing in for a rescue.
Why in MODE>SCENE when a parent and child are selected and then displaced on a keyframe do they move different amounts and thus loose their relative locations??
If I select only the parent and not the child they do move together?
Thank You

PS: Maybe related, even though that say they are parent child, they are on the same line under World.

Thanks Rudy - you were a big help and my presentation was very successful.

For others, the approach Rudy taught me was in OBJECT, create one object, called say "composite object" that contains all the elements. That way you can get all the elements in proper registrations. Then for each moving part create a new object and populate it with copy/paste from the elements of the "composite object" This creates the proper parent/child relationship.

Got my self in trouble, committed to doing a Anim8or project for work, and am stuck. It is just a mechanical simulation, few moving parts.
Have all the parts made and some animation. Is there someone who could fix it up? Will compensate.
Thank You

PS: Who has access to the documentation? Found an area I believe has a mistake. Spent hours trying to get one small procedure to work and finally found the solution, which is different than what works.

.... Drag selected the last 4 rows of points and moved downwards, (Y), incrementally, so that the 1st outside edge was the lowest, 2nd edge slightly higher and so on, ....
.... best explained by this old vid.
 ... youtube ...

WOW Johnar, the video was IMPRESSIVE! Even though I though I knew what to do, there were a lot of details here, as they say:)- "picture worth 1024 (2^10) words".

You moved all the points by eye. Is there a way to create a template or underlay of the desired final morph and drag the points to that? Then remove the template.

Thank You.

You are right. much nicer. I'm missing something on Morph. I can duplicate RudySchneider's Morph example. But we need an endpoint image as a template to know where to drag the points to.
How did you get the curves in the paper as your example shows?
Thank You.

The problem is to get the smooth natural animation of folding over say a piece of paper, where it starts flat and forms a natural curve. Would bones do that?

Can someone suggest how to animate (morph?) a sheet of thin-flexible material (like paper) being folded over into a loose fold?
Thank You -

Got it! The one thing to add, to make it more clear to a Newbie is after you add a keyframe by selecting a frame and double clicking where you want to add-keyframe .... Then before you close that pop-up box, input a "value".
Thank You!

Missing something on morph. Following the manual ... but what comes next. Where do I enter the usual parameters of how many frames should the morph take?
Thank You

Anyway to increase the resolution to reduce the jerkiness of a scene (movie). In other words, make a scene twice as long by adding more frames so the moment is smoother?
Thank You

How do you nudge the placement of an element/object when the mouse movements are too course?
Are there keys that will nudge one pixel each push?
Thank You
