Hello,

I currently have a Sumsung Galaxy Book2 360.
The version of Anim8or I have is 1.01.1403 (latest, Aug., '22)

(It would be only fair I acknowledge that, in the past 10 or so years, computers and their operating systems have boomed in development; literally changing and upgrading within months(!). I understand that, sometimes, independent programs like anim8or cannot always keep up in certain aspects of it.)

On an older computer years ago, I was able to reduce poly's on a mesh that had an excess of them. Now, for some reason or other on this new computer, I cannot. Are there any updates/fixes to this?

Thanks.

The whole chess set is completed. I call it the Deserted Empress Luxury Chess Set.

It is currently on the market as a 3D model on turbosquid.com; board and all. (I don't know if this was a hasted move. It felt like the right time was now. haha)

Those complex models must have taken you hours upon weeks.
Your work is extremely stunning! My 15 minutes of viewing and observing the many superb details is not regretted. :)
Thanks for the pleasure of your work.
Please keep producing. :)

General Anim8or Forum / Extruding on a spline: frustrating issue
« on: March 20, 2021, 09:16:42 pm »
Hey,

So, I understand that the path in question to be extruded (path #1) should be placed centered at the beginning point of the path which shape is the extrusion (path #2).

Here I placed path #1, an octagon, centered at the first point of path #2, an abstract incomplete right triangle. What are the results when I extruded #1 along #2? I receive an extrusion the shape of #2, alright. But, there's no tubular octagon. It's a flattened plane that runs the shape of the extrusion. (Please  download and consult the file below.)

Is there a different position that I should be placing either or both of these paths?

Please help.

Thank you, DavDud101.

Awww, thank you always, Steve. :) I'm glad you derived visual pleasure from it.

Anything about it you think could do with some improvement?

Just on a limb, also in the same Chess set is a 3D accessory item, called a Sumring.

The Knight and it are just a few of the exciting things I'm putting together for my current chess project, Deserted Empire (grand chess variant, which I hope to possibly get patented).

Sup, Anim8or community,

I've never been an active member, but for those who have at least vague familiarity with me, I design 3d chess pieces.

In the past, when I posted my chess sets, all my 3D horse heads have been purchased and modified. That's how I used to make my Knights.

This time, it's different. I created the following baby all on my own from nothing but the rubble.

I used incompatible side and front reference images to create my very own first Knight piece ever. It was very difficult, and I wanted to give up 3 times.

Finally, after 2 weeks, I managed to create something worth looking at!

I'm sure critics have a whole lot to say about every little thing that maybe wrong with it. Nevertheless, I am happy for having tried it out and achieved it on my own, with no help from anyone!

Please check it out!  :)

This is so cool.

So much of it looks very "realistic".

Thank you, Alec James. Let me check out your suggestions in a day or two, when I get better rested than the last 3 nights.  8)

Do you know if in .01390 the spline undo-redo error has been resolved?

Also, yes, Arc-rotate is exactly what I mean. I simply forgot that that's the technical terminology. (Despite the fact that I've known it long!  :-X :-X :-X lol)

14
In v1.01390, I can't free-rotate x-y-z while in object mode; or any of the modes, for that matter. Also, the middle-click for finer zooming is also gone.

The rotation system in this most current version is isolated to view-x, view-y-, view-z, which we can only rotate singularly at a time. When I rotate view-y and then rotate view-x, the camera angle of view is unwantedly tilted; which renders rotation in .01390 completely useless.

The rotation/panning/zooming features were much treasured, productive and efficient from previous downgraded 1.01 versions. Please bring them back.

Also, in the current version I'm using (a downgraded 1.01 version; not sure which), the program regularly crashes when I undo and redo spline-work. Whole projects will then be thrown the the sewer, and I would end up extremely frustrated, putting my project away to not touch again for hours, days, or even weeks.

Ah! Got it.

I think you meant I was supposed to click down on the middle-roll button, rather than rolling. When you said "middle-mouse button" the first time, I took that as ambiguously meaning anything.

Haha It was a simple little thing; silly that it escaped me.
