making our own engine is near impossible... and with a freeware engine, we're gonna have to keep our poly count in check.

so is the storyline going to be linear, or open-ended?

well, i never mentioned anything about a bad or good side. it's just i feel there should be a little bit of familiarity... of course that's up to the team not just myself.
like almost cool mentioned, it's probably going to be open ended... like fable, where you choose who you are... which is also the reason why i suggested a human protagonist, so you can choose to adapt to any place/race...

the reason for another galaxy is: the original idea of our game... which is that everything will be original... that way we can be creative... if the game were to take place on mars, there would be no lifeforms and it's not really habitable by living things (or is it o_O)

i'm speaking from my own experience here, and I think that we should take a look at the big picture first before filling in the little details.

so we're obviously not in the milky way galaxy anymore, what galaxy are we in? how many worlds/planets will we have... of course, we need races for our players... then we can go on to determine smaller details like the other inhabitants of the planet(s) and such...

correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think we'll make it to the online stage anytime soon, so let's make this a single-player type... first or third person, i don't mind either.
I think we should have the protagonist be an actual human, let's say that Earth is having some issues (cause we all know that it's not ...*cough*...) and they sent a team out to space to find a new home for the human race. So they come across a nearby galaxy and something unexpected happens, the crew goes missing, and there's one guy left and that's the main character. Apart from him everything else should be quite irrelevant to the planet Earth.

Anyways, just my opinion there... something that I'd like to work on. Let me know how you feel about it!

Hey siragin! Nice start you have there... although, it's probably best to subdivide it when the model is completely finished!
That way it's also easier for us to spot areas that need touching up on in your wireframe!
Could you also specify the car that you're modelling?

hihosilver: Oh no, I never do subdivisions... I concentrate more on low-poly models since I'm getting into the game industry. I don't plan on working on this model anytime soon, as I stated above, it's just an old backup model that I happened to come across. I'll get some wireframe renderings done once I figure out how =/
If I still had the finished model then I'd be happy to show it. Although I DO have a demo reel of the finished model... I just need to figure out how to get it online through Youtube or something...

thecolclough: Thanks! Yeah... I might re-finish the model if I get the chance...
It's not that hard to model cars! Once you get the blueprints for the top, front, back and side views, you're good to go =]

This is my model of an R-34 Nissan Skyline GTR.
I made this about 2 years ago for a Gr.12 project along with a 5th Generation Honda Prelude (which went missing).
I originally had textures, additional objects (such as brake disks, calipers, interior, seats, etc.) but those went missing as well... I managed to dig this file out of a bunch of random unfinished projects so I'm guessing that this file was a backup before I began modelling the interior.
Anywho, the pictures are below... modelled and rendered in Anim8or.

General Anim8or Forum / Question about hotkeys
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:29:22 pm »
Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've used Anim8or, so I'm a bit rusty on the hotkeys.
There's just one that I can't seem to remember, which is ironic since it's the one that I used the most.
It's supposed to bring up this green circle on the workspace which lets you pan, zoom, and rotate...
I've tried just about every CTRL/SHIFT+key possible, and I stopped when my computer crashed =]

If anyone can tell me the hotkey for this function, I would greatly appreciate it. It's nice to get back into something a lot more simple such as Anim8or after a couple years of working with Maya and 3DStudio hehe. Can't wait to get started! (Of course I'll need that hotkey first!)

Thanks in advance,

Setanta
