Hi ttsnim,
Good work on your model. I think you will find that many articles and tutorials on modelling and animating which were created for a different 3D software are easily adapted to Anim8or. A good example of that is the many instructions on scene lighting. You can find some excellent 'general 3D' forums with a variety of tutorial subjects online.
Best regards,
Bob G.

Hi bayinghound.
This is truly a prodigious work so far. Particularly the sets have that science fiction feel. Very nice. You might want to play with the timing graphs to get just the right tempo for some scenes.

Best regards,

Excellent material and modelling. It looks like the trumpet I played in high school right down to the 'Rudy Muck' mouthpiece.

Best regards,

I fixed the links. Nice work, bobg!
Hi Steve. Thanks for the help.  It's so good to see you are still here. The forum feels like coming home. Anim8or is such an excellent package, especially for someone starting out. If you have seen the intimidating UI of the latest Blender you know what I mean. For years, I found myself regularly discovering features in Anim8or. Each one added whole new worlds of possibility for modeling, texturing and animating. I think it took about two years for me to discover the full use of curves in animation. I used them in camera tracks, walk paths and roller coasters. Very little of that got past the 'proof of concept' stage and was never published on the forum. Much of what I did has been lost through disk failures and changing operating systems over the years.

@johnar. I certainly remember you. Your early work in facial animations challenged me to study the subject. If I remember correctly, it was the inspiration for the 10 second club effort. I have been thinking of doing a new Anim8or project. Also I've been thinking of redoing a horse I did but never quite got the animation right.

@davdud, Thanks. I hope to inspire starting anim8ors to dig deep. I'm sure I never fully produced what Anim8or is capable of.

Best regards to All and keep on anim8ing.

Hi All.

It's been many years since I used Animator and published on this forum. I thought maybe the current modelers would enjoy a look back at what I was doing then. My system was Linux and so Anim8or ran under a 'wine' Windows emulator. Nevertheless it worked perfectly.

One of my earliest starts (2005) was an idea to do some scenes from Alice in Wonderland. Nobody seemed to like my initial efforts so I eventually dropped it. I've added some attachments from that project and Han Solo (2005). The models of Han and Chewbacka were fully rigged.

Here is a link to a 10 second challenge where the idea was to animate a ten second sound byte.

(Steve here: I think I can fix your links:)

I did a bit of scripting to create sparkles for a quick animation of Tinkerbell. That was before scripting was coded into Anim8or

It's probably been a year or more since I looked at this forum but something drew me here today and there it was, the news of your going to USC. I had to log in and wish you well along with offering congratulations. My only time at USC was as a computer service engineer during the early 80's. I'm glad to see you stuck with it. I hope to be entertained by one of your movies someday.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Twisted rope

It sounds like your first attempt didn't provide enough segments in the cylinder and that's why it failed. If you are planning on a significant length of rope, The segmentation required is going to quickly get your poly count over the top. A better solution would be to create two polygon strips laid parallel along their length  and crossed into a `+' when viewed on end. Texture map the strip with a rope image and an alpha transparency.
