I think it needs a show command too. I mean for the object mode.

Sorry, I just realised that there is no show command, but I have figured out a way. Use the list to pick your hidden object, then Cut, and then paste it again.

That does not need to use the list. The hidden item is not removed from the current selection, so you can cut as you say and paste, and when pasted is visible, as you say. But, there is no unhide command?

on your list double click the item, down tward the bottom of that box in edit properties it will say hidden uncheck that box

that doesn't work. there is no hidden box in Object mode, and also one can't double click and open anything with the item list, just select.

Do you mean the item list icon? Yes, I can select hidden objects that way, but how to show again one object that I've hidden without showing all the others a tthe same time? Is this possible?

That's what I'm asking, 3D Joe, I mean unhiding one object at a time, not all them.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Suggestion for the Item List
« on: August 06, 2009, 01:20:52 pm »
Hello,

This is a suggestion to be included in future releases of Anim8or:

Please make the window "item list" manipulable at the same time as the other selection tools, or place it in a sidebar or something similar, so one can select objects by name and by other means without having to click ok or close this window. THis may make it very useful.

Thanks.

This is a question. I know one can hide objects individually, or select one and invert the selection and hide the others.

 ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

But how can I show just one object that I've hidden previously, without hiding the others or doing anything with the others? Can I?

I mean, some kind of hide/unhide toggle, a script or any other way...

Thanks.

If not, it may be a very good feature to add.

Thank you very much!

There's some problem, maybe a bug, in 0.95 and in 0.97d:

When I open an object double clicking it and the "Mesh Editor" window appears, even if I don't change anything and click OK, or just make a name change, the object moves slightly, usually in the X axis, but sometimes also in the other axis y and z.

THis is a real problem specially when working at a medium size or small scale.

I think that this has to do something with the way the numbers are rounded. Maybe the very small decimals are eliminated once the OK button is clicked, and that produces a movement. For example, for an X value of 0.0058, the value is reseted to 0.005 and the object moves in X.

Hope this helps to fix this bug. Thanks Steve for your hard work.

Thanks to you all for all this information.

I see that most of these tools are available as the plugins that you say:

- Tube tool: the spline tube script (http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=21.30) does this.

- Array tool: These scripts make it better, as they work visually : http://www.tranceportsoftware.com/anim8orstuff/treads.htm

- Randomize points: This script that you said is what I wanted: http://www.anim8or.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000103.html

It may be good if they come packaged with Anim8or, people may appreciate them.

I still have some doubts for these features, please tell me:

- Boolean operations: union, extract, intersection, difference. I see they are in Terranim8or, and I like it, but can I execute them from inside Anim8or?

- Align objects to x y or z axis: I mean align an object to another in some axis, although this may be done by hand by copying the values of x y or z.

- Tree view of the objects of the scene: mainly for select by name in object edition mode. Is this possible?

- Background image in the modeler: Anim8or's reference image is perfect, much better to have it in 3D, I like how Anim8or does this.

And about "Make Live Duplicate", it is to make a copy of the object that changes if you change the original. It is as you say, as the "live mirroring" but with the full mesh. I used it very much, for example to model columns of a temple, and change them at a time. It may be a very good feature.

Thanks!

Hello,

First of all I want to thanks Steve for his hard work. Anim9or is an excellent 3D editor, and I like it very much, specially since it does such a good OBJ import and export.

My usual modeler was AOI but it has problems with very big meshes with many polygons, and Anim8or works great with them. So I switch to Anim8or.

There are some tools that I miss, and I wonder if they're available on Anim8or as plugins or something. If they are, please tell me. If not, take this as feature suggestions:

- Tube tool: this is in fact a spline that goes following the path of another. This can be done in Anim8or, but a tube tool may be a good thing. This works this way: you draw  a spline, then use the tube tool, and it becomes a tube. THis is great for doing iron forge things.

- Array tool: to make copies of an object but with transformations. This is great for example for stairs.

- Make Live Duplicate: make a copy of the object that changes if you change the original.

- Boolean operations: union, extract, intersection, difference.

- Align objects to x y or z axis.

- Tree view of the objects of the scene

- Background image in the modeler, to watch while one works, as a reference

- Randomize points: randomizes the points of the mesh.

Thanks again Steve.
