How do I make a simple cube? A smooth, subdivided CUBE? 
I've done build> primitives> cube> build> subdivide and then tried all sorts of things to get it to look like a frickin cube. I can't get it to work and it's driving me crazy. I'm wanting to make a little animated short called The Marvelous Adventures of Cube-Man and the Fuzzies(we were bored in Bible class... and we're still bored). So, needless to say: I need a CUBE. So, please help me feel a little less/more stupid by telling me how to make a simple cube.

Yes, sorry, I'm asking for help. I need help with the propulsions. This is what I have so far:
I don't like how the engine looks. I think they probably need to be smaller... but I also can't remember how to make on end go in on itself. If anyone could help me or point me to a tut, I'd be very grateful.

As the title says, I'm making a space ship. I've gotten the ship body and the wings done. Now I need to know how to make the propulsion systems: ie the wings will have engine like things for getting it into the air and the back will have stuff for flying through space. But I can't figure out how to make it look right.
