General Anim8or Forum / Glass effects

Hulloo - very much a beginner in all this animation lark - but anim8or seems such a breeze to use to get reasonable looking results with minimum effort 
Anyhoo - my question... I can make transparent materials, but is it possible in anim8or to model the effects that glass can have - such as magnifying glasses, warping / distorting the view of whatever is behind the glass?
If not - please also let me know... will save me scratching a bald-patch on my head while I try to figure it out.
