I've been using the .96 Beta, for some time, and so far am pleased with the new features, and fixes to old ones.
I was wondering, though what features are planned for future releases?
My needs are simple, but I would like to see a "Target Merge" feature for vertex editing. It would make merging distant points easier, without having to worry about the target vertex getting moved when the "merge points" function averages the position of the two points.

This is a group of 2 scripts I wrote a while ago.It allows to snap multiple
points to a target one.Try it and let me know if this is what you were looking
for.Don't forget to have a look at the readme file.

"Future Features For Fun"?
Ok then, what about a "Make Real" button. You know, you click it and whatever mesh you made materializes beside you. Of course it might be a problem if you just made a house or or a big "one eye, one horne giant purple people eater" but that feature might be nice...

Something I would actually like is a bone mirror.
So you could make half a skeleton and mirror all the bones so they
are the same size and have the same angle.
-
Oh the list could go on forever ;), but one thing I'd really like is low poly proxies. Even pre-subdivision, some models can get out of hand in the number of polies that they are when it comes to animating and using Scene mode. It'd be nice if there could be a lower poly representation of your mesh that you can animate with quickly and easily, and then have the same movements and such applied to the higher poly version.

Shouldn't this topic be in 096 preivew

Point beveling. I've been wondering why you can't do that.
Backdrop tool (best name I can come up with so far. A white plane that you can move around the screen like a normal model any thing behind it is excluded from selection. It would simplify selecting points while working with very complicated models

I completely agree with this. I feel it'd be a very useful tool.
Mirroring bones would be wonderful as well as people have said in the past. Mostly just backing up what people have said.
There are other features that I would obviously want such as IK, but those are much larger and I guess I'll focus on the smaller things now.

All of those sound great but, i think that Anim8or is in need of a better, faster renderer. Scan line just doesn't cut it. I love Anim8or to death but this is about time it got the new age face lift for its outputted images. Like a fully enable ray tracing engine built in, with the works. Like the ability to create realistic reflections and refractions, and even just render faster. All of this would make some of the work that came out of Anim8or feel more professional, and give it a good feel, and make it more appealing to continue working with instead of switching to something else. And lets users not have to export and import constantly and have to re-invest time and energy into learning new programs just to get something that can compete with higher dollar software.
Just something that I was always wanting, and thought it would be very appropriate in the next stable release. I mean i got so exited to see a sub-category entitled "Renderer". I nearly shat myself. But at least it keeps me hopeful... I'm keeping my fingers crossed Steve and staying loyal! lol
