Hi, I currently have the latest release Anim8or v.0.95. And I was wondering if 0.97 is a beta? or is it an actual release? because if it is a real release, then I don't wanna miss a minute of it! :D

3Dgeek11 I currently have version .97b (it is still in beta and will probably not have an actual release till later) and it works fine for me there are a few more features in that I haven't used yet but like I said it still works ok for me. Some people say that is may crash on their computer but it hasn't on mine. If you want go ahead and give it a try also I would recommend checking out the new features and giving them a try. Steve does this so more people than just him are testing it out to make sure that everything goes as programed and it helps speed up the release date (this is what microsoft does when they release a new operating software, like Vista) hope this answers your question and happy anim8ing!!!

I decided to start posting v0.97b and such as a quicker way to get things out. When I waited until I had a bigger batch, there were always a lot of little bugs and things that needed changing that came in a big rush. I couldn't handle them all quickly enough to get proper feedback so some things got overlooked. The new way seems to be working better.
These intermediate releases should be fairly solid. I would keep backups for any critical project that you used them for, of course (but that's no different that the official releases :))

now forgive me for asking steve, I don't want to sound impatient or insulting but do you have any idea when the stable version of v97 is going to realesed? I understand that you have put a lot of effort into this and sorry if i sound like i am nagging you

It's prety stable now. Posing a few features at a time let;s me QA it more thoroughly. I'd give it a try if I were you. Some of the newer features are't quite finished or may have some problems but otherwise it should be as good as v0.95c.
I don't plan on doing a real v0.97 release. That would be a lot of work finalizing the manual, etc. Everything takes time.

Why not ask some of the smarter members if they could do it in their spare time?

I downloaded the 0.97 preview and it is awesome! a lot of new features which I don't understand (lol) but some of them are good, and a lot of other misc stuff, like when you export a movie, it doesn't just sit at the preview of the movie anymore, it goes straight back to the scene editor. :)

what I was refering to was the "Attributes" on an object and material.
