This is a WIP model of a 200+ foot megayacht I saw once in Greece. I dubbed her "Strega Del Mare" the prototype is the "Battrered Bull" built by Royal VanLent Feadship in Holland. The textures are just quick and dirty to make it easier to see. I plan on finishing the complete interior in the future. I actually have a more detailed version on my other PC, but wanted to throw this one out there while I had a chance.

Here's a shot across the stern...

A very beautiful boat.
With a boat like this you don't need a house :D
-
Cool boat and good modelling. :)
Could you show us the more detailed version?
-
Spicy, I'll try to get the other version out some time this week. I was originally only going to do low poly models of the tenders, but while I was modelling the drives for the Cigarette, I got carried away, so I decided to do full models of those as well. For the most part the model will be true to the original. The only liberties I've taken so far are with the propulsion and steering systems as I've been unable to find any shots of the prototype below the waterline. Also I am swapping the sterndrive units of the Cigarette tender out for a pair of Arneson surface drives.
The radar, and radio gear is fairly recent as she had a different electronics suite when I saw her. This is definitely an evolving project. The more I work on it, the more I change my original plans. I haven't decided yet whether to model the interior exactly, or redesign it to fit my tastes, but that's still a ways off...

Very nice model 5lider, the back end (stern) looks a little blocky but apart from that it's a great model.
Looking forward to seeing it textured.
How long have you been modeling?
-
A lot of modern yachts have squared off sterns and shipbuilders have pretty much done away with the rounded boat-tail. On the prototype there is a dive platform that folds down out of the transom, which I eventually plan to model the as well.
I haven't kept track, but I think I've been modelling as a hobby for about 5 years now. ...ever since I got my hands on G-MAX in MS Train Simulator. I just checked my main model folder the other day and was actually surprised with how much I've done. ...Everything from a flashlight to this boat. Unfortunately i usually get distracted with something new to model so it sometimes takes me a while to finish a complete project. A lot of the time I will model generic components that I can use later in bigger models. ...switches, knobs, etc... I have a whole folder dedicated to just pieces and parts.

I got started modeling with G-MAX too. The only difference is that is was making mods for dungeon siege.
the model looks nice though :)

Ok, I know this has been more than a week, but I had a vacation in there somewhere. Anyhow, this was the more detailed version, but I didn't like the way the Salon and Deckhouse windows looked, so i am redoing those, but I have added some real wood textures, although the deck is darker than I like.
As far as the extra details, this has more fittings, such as the horn, anchor winch, lifering, etc. I also rendered it in ART so it looks a lot better except for that feisty near-Z clipping issue at the bow. I also included a pic of the prototype so you can see what I am working towards.

That's a incredibly nice model! you should try rendering it with a better renderer, The results will probably be extremely realistic!
Keep up the good work! looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Well, it's been a while, but I've done a lot of work, since then, and found a better renderer for final images.
Just to illustrate the level of detail I try to achieve, the gauges on the cockpit of the speedboat have individual needles, and I am also working on a full interior.
One thing that helps me not to be overwhelmed, is to focus on one thing. For example, with the interior, I started with the general layout and worked on that, until all the spaces were right. Then, I added the ladderwells, between decks, and am now working specifically on the bridge interior, before moving on to the other spaces. I will probably do the engine room and aft dive room last, as those will require the most intricate detail. My goal is to make a fully realized model of the original ship.
Enjoy!

What renderer are you using?

Nice boat, 5L1D3R. When do I get a ride in it?
BTW "Strega Del Mare" means "Sea Witch" in Italian.

DEFINITELY been a while, wow!!!
But very nice modeling 5LID3R! Exciting to see where this is going after being revisited.

Gorgeous work, I love the extreme details!
