I just got Anim8or and am trying to select points on a sphere so I can cut it in half but it won't let me. What am I doing wrong?
-
You've created a primitive.It can't be modified that way
unless you convert it to a mesh.
Select the sphere.
Menu:Build. Use the Convert to mesh function.

thank you so much!

If you haven't yet, read the manual and the first 3 tutorials (Tutorials for Anim8or)
BTW you might have problems doing the eggplant tutorial though
-
just make sure you've got the right size, and the right latitude and longitude divisions settings on your sphere BEFORE converting to mesh, because once you convert to mesh and start chopping bits out, there's no way to change the size or the lat/long again. ;)
liane78, welcome to anim8or and to the forums, btw!

As well as mesh, you can subdivide it (Smooth it). This also helps you select the points. Menu>Build>Convert to Subdivided
-
true, spicy, but 'convert to mesh' makes things less complicated ;)

less complicated? Any how, that smooths an object. Making it look more smooth. Or you can do Menu>Build>Convert to Mesh, it doesn't matter. Hope this helps anyway
-
"less complicated" as in less polys. if your hemisphere is going to be something large, then subdividing would probably be a good idea, but if it's just for some little detail like a character's eyelid, you don't need the extra smoothing (so long as you set your lat/long figures right), so 'convert to mesh' would do fine.
