well i need help thinking of something to model,i have no idea what to make ???
-
make a building. they're quite easy, as they tend to be geometric, and you can get away with them being quite lowpoly, but still looking good :)

Also good starting models are things like guns, swords and such. There just like buildings pretty simple and low poly.
A simple sword can be made using this tutorial:

when i started anim8or,i modeled a primitive and randomly extruded faces, pointed, etc. until i got something that slightly looked like something someone would normally see,and then continue focusing on the object it looked like...betcha had to read over a couple words in that due to lack of punctuation.

How about making a matching ring and earrings to your necklace. I'm sure your mum would be pleased with this "virtual" gift.

Dude, you're kidding, right? Ideas are all around you! Model your bedroom, one piece of furniture at a time. How about an alien playing the drums? Maybe a spaceship-to-space station docking manouever. A vase. A stereo system. A medieval village. A yoyo, with string and all.
Come on, there are millions of ideas! Challenge yourself to make something you don't know how to make, and feel the skills oozing into your head! Or start small, make something simple but make it really well. Try lynn22's excellent idea, but try to make them so that when someone sees the render, they think it is a photograph.
Or, join one of the contests or group projects on animanon.com or anim8or.org. All are welcome, no matter what skill level, and you will learn TONS!

I started off with a simple crate (cube) then played around at texturing it.
Then a traffic cone which was a little more difficult.
Then an old wooden pallet.................then a metal oil drum all of which I can use in various scenes.
You could try various models or figures out of Lego, the great thing with Lego is you can pull it apart to help you make your 3d model if you get stuck.
Happy modeling

i like lynn's idea, and I have modeled my comp desk, just couldn't find a mountain dew stained wood texture for all the drinks i've spilled ;D
-
If you have a digital camera, or can borrow one, take a top-down photograph of your desktop, crop it to a square, make sure the pixels are a nice multiple of 8 (256x256 or whatever) and use it as the basis for the texture. Can't get more accurate than that!
-
Good advice that. ;)
That's what I've just started to do, I must look a right mentalist taking photos of tree trunks and rusty metal grilles. :P :P :P
It's amazing what textures you can find when your looking for them.

cool,thanks for the tip

After multiple occaissions of walking through my house and saying to myself "could i model that?"I will make my room!
-
After doing this animation caper for a while, you find yourself looking at EVERYTHING and thinking, "could I model that...?"!!!
-
Argh, it's true :(
If only I had time to model everything I've said that about. I'm a 3d-modelling addict like that.
Don't look at me, I'm hideous.
-
Yeah i once tried to model jacksonville.never managed to start though.:'( Ecoyou got yourself in this mess.have fun with it :-\
