Title: Landform Generator

Anybody know of a cheap (okay, free) landform generator? I am taking the plunge into creating scenes and want to generate some basic landforms to put buildings and other things into in order to build a scene.

There used to be a program called Terrgen that did this. But now it looks like it's been bought or changed it's name to Planetside. They have a free version but I haven't tried it yet. the web site it:

Thanks, Steve. I have downloaded it and have save links to the tutorials. Guess this old dog is going to have to learn some new tricks.

You might want to investigate the Web forum http://www.cartographersguild.com/ They provide links to software for developing both 2D and 3D maps and the associated landforms.

For example, Wilbur is a free utility for eroding 3D landforms to produce river basins, etc. http://www.fracterra.com/wilbur.html
