Title: Stupid Non-Newbie Question #2

Somebody point me in the right direction.
I remember taking a solid figure, insetting one end somewhat and then - somehow - sliding the poly in the middle towards the opposite end thereby skinning the inside of the figure. I remember (or think I remember) doing that but cannot for the life of me remember how. Just a suggestion of the tool to use will suffice. I am slowly regaining basic facility in Anim8or. if nothing else my hands remember some of the keyboard shortcuts.

I think you may be thinking about the "Shell" function on the Object/Point Edit tool bar.  It looks like a "U" with a dashed "U" inside of it.

The shell function that NickE mentions automatically creates a shell for the object's entire surface, but has to be started by you creating a "hole" in that object (minimally, delete one face while in point-edit mode) where the hollowing-out is to start.

Another (much more manual) way is to inset an area (one or more faces) and manually shove around the associated points or faces. This is useful if you're working with a rectangular object or if you just want to inset a specific region. I usually start this by using either the "extrude face" or the "inset" option in point-edit mode.
