Two things about exporting a figure which bother me.
1. Can only export to .an8 or .3ds file. Not a biggie because there are entirely (apparently) functional FREE (and I do love free :) ) file converters to get to the format I need - i.e. .obj (only because that's the only one Daz can import ::) )
2. No materials file is generated at the time the model is exported. Shouldn't there be? I mean I can figure out a work-around for it (export something with the same materials and rename/hack the .mtl file) but I am wondering why I have to work around that. Not complaining here, just looking for clarification. My whole purpose for modelling just now involves being able to export rigged models in .obj format so it's kind of important for me.

The .an8 and .3ds file formats include the materials so there isn't any need for a materials file.

The first topic in the Script forum page has a large number of scripts of all kinds:Script Data Base (https://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php/topic,1705.0.html). However plug-in export scripts are only supported in the Object editor.

Thanks for the cogent reply, Steve. Unfortunately, The person for whom I am doing the modelling composes his shots in Daz Studio which only imports .obj. Not only is the .obj image format FAR larger than .3ds it requires a material file accompanying it. Guess I'll just have to do the work around. Have to experiment to see.
