Title: Rotate Faces button
Post by: Norro on April 28, 2019, 02:04:34 am
Hello, I am new to this so please bear with me. In the tutorial for making the eggplant, it says to use the face rotate button, but I do not see such button. Therefore, I tried the regular rotate button, but this causes the faces to rotate in weird directions. I'm a bit stuck, has anyone else ran into this issue? Thanks

Ooops, I need to update the tutorial. There have been some changes to the tools since it was written.

For a quick fix try this:

1) Select the 5 inner edges of the 5 faces that you exruded.
2) In the FRONT view, use the move tool to move them down so that the 5 faces are closer to level.
3) Select the 5 faces and extrude them again.
4) Do 1-2-3 again if you want the sides higher or more vertical.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, but I don't understand why choosing FRONT view is important. Does the move tool operate differently depending on what view you're in? I thought the object moves in the X/Y/Z planes relative to the grid regardless of the camera angle...?

Yes, you can do this in other views, but you may need to change coordinate systems, direction, etc. That's why I specify both the view and the direction.
