Title: how to mirror objects...?
Post by: thief0 on April 13, 2008, 11:16:40 am
I know that you can mirror a single mesh, but is there a way to mirror other types of objects?  and, is there a way to mirror a group of meshes?  I really do not want to join the solids.  so, is there a way I can mirror a whole bunch of meshes and objects together? if not, then can this feature be added to anim8or, perhaps?  I REALLY want to be able to do this, for a reason.

and also, if you do join solids, is there a way to unjoin them (other than undo)?

As far as I can tell you can only mirror a single mesh at a time. Just yesterday I was building arms for a model and the hand was seperate from the fore arm. so I had to mirror the hand first and then the fore arm to make the opposite arm.

You can "join solids" without the separate meshes actually touching - then mirror - then in face select mode you select the faces of each mesh, go edit>detach faces and the mesh is then becomes a separate mesh.

You can't unjoin solids.  As Roygee said, you can "detach faces" and that will "unjoin" in a way, but anim8or doesn't keep reference of what you joined and then unjoin it.  Especially if you were to make a change.  Still, you can 'group' and 'ungroup' objects, but you can't mirror them.
