2017 release? That's crazy. Glad to see the program that first got me into 3D is still trucking through. I've moved onto Maya and Cinema4D. Working on learning ZBrush at the moment.
I've been mostly doing motion graphics. But also diving into Maya after getting into Cinema for a good minute.
I'll admit, the controls havent changed. Old me got use to it as it was my first 3D application, now they just feel wonky. But I'd still recommend it to anyone trying to dive in.
I really wish I had my old projects back. That was way back before 2006 though. :-\

Oh but they have. There's arc rotate, and navigation in perspective view has been fixed. It used to be way wonkier.

...and mouse wheel zoom is absolutely brilliant!

Oh damn. It's been a long time. I guess it feels alittle alien compared to other 3D programs. But then again, C4D felt alien when I first tried it, thinking "Wait, but on anim8or.."

But when you think about it, the companies and groups making the pro-level software like Maya/Blender 'n' such have - admittedly (don't hate me Steve!) - been a bit more vigilant with making it easy to jump between high-end software without having to relearn everything - just give the function a new name and put it in a new place.
Anim8or is just EASY, and works excellently - but I've personally found that it's not like many other software and leaves one with still a pretty big learning curve to move to other software.
