Post by: RudySchneider on June 25, 2017, 01:40:18 pm

Been forever since I posted! I work with 2D animation now but every once in awhile I mess around with Anim8or. Actually getting ready to start on an Anim8or project so gonna start making some posts and learn some new stuff. But here's a sample of my current project.

Good question. I feel like the forums been losing a LOT of energy in the past year or so. The 1.0 release definitely kicked the community in the butt a bit, but maybe we need a new community challenge again?

Is that a "Yes" or is that a " Yeah sure "  :D Btw, Anim8or mentioned as well among others. Psss, that's realy cool.

Yes, it's me.  Pretty much everything I do starts with Anim8or, it's just a really nice modeling space and with the mousewheel zoom thing it's an absolute joy.  When I switch to Carrara I miss it terribly, Carrara has mousewheel zoom but it's always screen-centred rather than cursor-centred.

heh, I wish Steve would make that optional, a few builds ago it was screen zoom rather than cursor zoom and I preferred that, now when I zoom it veers off to a side which is annoying when I'm lined up to a specific grid point.

If you press the Shift key the mouse wheel zooms in the center of the screen as it used to do, otherwise it zooms at the cursor location.

I'm here....Use to be on an older Anim8or website but it went defunct.
I wasn't going to sell my soul to Zuckerberg to chase Anim8or folks on facebook.
Tricks are for kids.

However- I recently stumbled onto this website and it would appear, some of my old friends are here. ;)

I will try to stay active here now that I know. 8)

I always check in here, every time i go online.
However, there's times my brains don't function so well when it comes to 'interacting'. (https://s6.postimg.org/qy0k2b8gx/Rolleyeswhite.gif)(https://s6.postimg.org/y2drxlqch/Winkgrey.gif)

watching.   wondering.  Wondering why I can't ever stick with one 3D app and learn it?

Any hope for an Anim8or forums revival? Looks like there's an average of what, 2 posts per day these days. I've been here 10 years and it's never been this dead!
For anyone who's hanging around... what can we do to garner interest in Anim8or (and in the forums) again???

i'm tempted to say 'make a film'.  must admit i haven't made a CGI short in 10 years now, but i'd love to get back into it.

maybe in the interests of feasibility we should start by aiming for a very short video (30-60 sec or so) rather than a full-blown short film; something that could be put together fairly quickly to try and build momentum.

Some cooperation is a good idea in general, but the most obvious thing to do is to post some work on a regular basis. ( Not playing it too smart, since I don't do it myself unfortunately. But I'm here...)

I typically visit this forum 1-2 times a day, but I haven't had much drive to create art the last couple of years. Occasionally I use Anim8or to make models for 3D printing or prototyping quickly here at work.

Honestly I think a site redesign would do wonders for the community. People see a site from the 90s and click away immediately if they find it at all. It doesn't look like a site for a modern 3D program at all. I get that updates are more important, but its not hard to create a site on squarespace or something that has a modern feel to it.

More advanced updates would help too, but I get that you can only go so far with a one man band.
