Title: House Model
Post by: ronaldefarmer on July 22, 2015, 11:53:17 pm
Just a very basic model of a house. I want to see if I can learn to do some quality architectural modeling in Anim8or. This is the first time I have tried to model a building entirely in Anim8or. I will add some details and textures later.

That's what I like to see; nice clean models! :-)

VERY good. Can't wait to see how it goes with texturing. Echoing what Sluggs said... just nice, clean, and detailed modeling.

I worked on the house a little bit:

For some unknown reason the image is just an X? Hmm, IE browser is getting flaky?

Ippena: Can you see it now?

Yes, what was the problem with the images? Nice house btw.

The problem was that I had used Raxx's code to display images, but it doesn't work in IE.

Bummer, IE seems is becoming quite worthless; I use Google Chrome on my XP PC. Even IE 11 seems very problematic as well.

Nice to see some architectural modelling, and great work.  If I can offer some constructive criticism, to me the devil is in the details for this sort of model.  While this house is nice and clean and would suit a game environment really well as it is, for added realism and to transport the model from great to awesome maybe consider adding those fiddly bits like guttering along the eaves, down-pipes, window and door frame molding, modelled weather-boards, etc.  Then maybe some photographic textures with a bit of bump mapping to reduce the 'flatness' of the surfaces.  Just something to think about.  Also, the grass is really well done!

Nice house Ron. Agree with the cc from ENSONIQ5. More detail would go a long way.
Mostly i notice the upper half of the building. The roof would look awesome with guttering, downpipes, and a more realistic roof texture. From the roof down looks great. Nice one. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here is the latest render:

I know the trees are a bit sloppy. Maybe later I'll do some better trees and add gutters.

I love this model. Very well done.

What stands out the most for me is the lighting setup you've used. I find it very believable.

Believable outside lighting has always been a pain for me.
The paving texture is also pretty cool.
Just to repeat what gas already been said - dont stop now, just keep the details coming. Make it sn epic render and lets add it to the anim8or gallery and show the world what anim8or is capable of! ! :)

Thanks KyleSan. Here is a new render. I still need to work on the trees. Anybody have any criticism or suggestions?

Hey, looking good!

Maybe something to think about is the camera height. At the moment it looks like it's at around 2,5 meters ( 8+ feet ) , which makes the house look a bit miniature. Maybe if you put the camera at eye-height the sense of scale will be better?

Yeah, it's REALLY close to being very realistic (from a rendering standpoint- the modelling is accurate as it gets). I think slightly rounder edges on the porch cement, a little geometric grass above the 'groundline', and some slightly deeper textures and it's made :D

Either way, REALLY well done!

Nice man, I just built a house, I did not put the time into it you did.   I was going for a functional interior though.... Good Job!
