And so far, I'm lost. No more lost than I was when I first started with Anim8or though.
Anyone got any tips or know where I could find a tutorial?

no is so hard using Terranim8or... in start i think the same..
i found here in my computer a tutorial about "Creating and Texturing Terrains with Terranim8or"
please check the "Attachement" and have another tutorial in video about "animated background" check

Ohh, I get it. You're supposed to use it to add effect to existing projects. I'm supposed to make a plane in Anim8or before I make it into a terrain in Terranim8or.
Come to think of it, that should've been obvious... :-[
Well, regardless, the video made some other things clearer too. Also, cool that I can use it to make animated textures for backgrounds or screens. :D

Having some trouble with the special effects...
1. I can't figure out how to change the colors of the particles for trails, flames or explosions. I tried replicating a teapot shattering with the explosion, and the debris still looked like it was slightly on fire. I tried using trails for a waterfall effect, and the water was grey.
2. Whenever I try using flames, it makes them completely invisible unless you're looking at them in the wire frame view mode.

Umm... I still don't get it. The problem with the fire isn't the particles being flat. The problem is that the particles are invisible.
And how am I supposed to change the colors of the particles? They only appear in the scene editor, which doesn't have a materials window.

the particle is a "simple object" so you need goto to ..
MODE--> OBJECT -->> OBJECT --> find/select your object (object01)
show material editor (CTRL+M) --> in TOP of this menu you have 2 options (FILE and OBJECT)
select OBJECT.. DOUBLE CLICK in texture --> select DIFFUSE and DRAG in bottom the colors control for CHANGE THE COLOR!!

ps: same INVISIBLE you can use "RENDER" for see the color in object ok!!

Still haven't figured out how to make the fire particles visible without making them look wrong, but I have figured out several problems with them, one of which being that the texture for them wasn't in the texture directory.
But now that I know that the particles are stored as objects in the project file, I can just replace them with orange glowing spheres/drops/etc, and I'm liking the results so far.

I have not been able to get a hold of les to fix some things on it after I moved hosts. I am happy to host it, but I believe it was infected with malware at some point and needs to be looked over and sorted before i put it back up.
