Hey folks,
I'm looking for some content creators for the website I'm working on, located at http://an8hub.org (currently under development). This site will include its own user manual/help system, a scripts repository, tutorials, and models. I also have an Anim8or UI overlay in the works that integrates An8hub's help system into Anim8or, providing help with just a click (and possibly some sort of script manager/interface).
Content creators will help author articles for the help system, properly document scripts, create and transfer tutorials to be hosted within An8hub, keep content updated, provide feedback to the site, etc.
If you:
- Have spectacular knowledge in one or more areas related to Anim8or
- Can write and speak English well
- Want to give something to the community
Please reply here or send me a message. The site will be free (no ads), so no compensation will be provided, but you will be credited for your contributions.
Hope you're interested!

That is exciting news, Raxx! I'm looking forward to visiting your website when it is up. I certainly wouldn't say that I have "spectacular" knowledge on any subject, but I think I'm good on the other two points. Let me know if there is something I can do to help.

Great initiative Raxx. It's been quite some time since I've used Anim8or for anything other than general modelling (which I always do in Anim8or) so my offerings would be limited and potentially out of date but happy to contribute with whatever I can. I have some knowledge of motion scripting too (it's the only scripting I've done) so could possibly provide some tutorials in that area if anybody is interested. Also happy to provide content on general things in the modelling/animation world not specifically connected to Anim8or, such as UV mapping, texture creation, project planning etc.

Count me in

I would like to participate. I have sent you a message.

great to see how super excites the community is about this. I've also sent you a message.

Many thanks for your responses! You guys will be a great help :) I'm still hammering out the foundation with which we'll be working on--I'll send you guys a message as soon as it's ready!

By the way, still looking for contributors! No coding/web development knowledge required.
These are the areas that will need help (with permission of copyright owners):
- Anim8or Manual: All Anim8or features will need to be documented
- Tutorials: Transfer existing tutorials to An8Hub, and create your own.
- Models/Figures/Sequences/Scenes: Upload and organize An8 resources
- Textures: Upload and organize textures
- Materials: Upload materials with preview images
- Scripts: Upload and document existing scripts
- Apps: Upload or link to third party apps that can be used in conjunction with Anim8or
- Maintain and update the above resources as needed
The goal is to get everything centrally located and hosted on An8Hub and create a rich environment for Anim8or users.

i like to think i'm fluent at reading/writing English - not sure whether i've got the teaching skills to write my own tutorials, but i could maybe help copy-editing other people's contributions if English isn't their strong suit?
also, re: textures, were you planning to host everything locally, or also include links to ouside texture directories? if the latter then i'd highly recommend a link to www.cgtextures.com (http://www.cgtextures.com)

thecolclough, that'll be a great help :)
I'm thinking I might combine Materials and Textures, since there are plenty of texture resource sites out there. Basically, an entry would contain a material and any related textures. The user can download it from the site, or the UI overlay program (let's call it An8Hubby) will automatically download and install it.

That sounds brilliant Raxx. While I do actively enjoy creating materials for a project, Anim8or's lack of a 'standard pallet' of editable materials is conspicuous by its absence. Carrara manages this by providing access in-project to a repository of dozens of pre-built materials that you can copy and edit at need, as well as a place to save your own materials. If the overlay can provide some sort of functionality along these lines it would be a really significant step.
An online bank of pre-built materials, appropriately managed, sorted into categories and searchable, would be an excellent resource to which I would be happy, and honoured, to contribute.

Wow, nice work Raxx. But I just always had a question, why people duplicate Anim8or related sites, why not do all that stuff just here ???
-
ENSONIQ5, that's the intent, so certainly I look forward to your contributions :)
Gyperboloid, there are limitations to what can be done with just the SMF forum software. Steve also needs full control of this site, so I can't do much here. We've discussed it and the features that'll be in An8hub.org just can't be done here without a conflict of interest. Also, An8Hub will put a stop to people feeling the need to make other sites :)

an8hub.org!
Sounds like it'll be an excellent expansion of the Anim8or.com online experience.(http://s6.postimg.org/4y98eizkt/grywink.gif)
.... and the name just seems to fit perfectly......
I'll be a die hard Anim8or user for as long as i can hold a mouse, see the screen, and click a keyboard, so although i can't think of anything i could volunteer for 'right now', i'll always be happy to help/contribute, where i can.
Will be watching for tasks in which i may be of some use. (and happy for any requests)
Good stuff raxx. (http://s24.postimg.org/o4uvmxwjl/Thumbs_Up_G1.gif)

Hey Raxx, I'm definitely on-board! I've been back at it swinging hard (I'll be posting my recent work really soon), and I'd love to give this kind of thing a shot.
