Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
Steve this really needs to be fixed time and time again I am having this problem.

Look here (http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php/topic,4908.0.html), and here (http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php/topic,4852.msg35283.html#msg35283) (I already told you about it). Steve's doing what he can to get it fixed. It's not a life-threatening issue, please be patient until it gets resolved.

I think I have to either upgrade my account to a dedicated server or switch to another provider. Currently there is a limit to the number of simultaneous connections.

I'm at about a 30% chance of getting the "unable to connect screen'. It's getting hard
to just navigate the forum once you finally log in.

It's OK it doesn't bother me though.

well the other day it took me about 10 minutes just to post something, and the problem is once I get disconnected I have to reclick replay and rewrite everything and hit post again (I copy and pasted it though) and hope that I don't get the connection error again.

just thinking out loud here... we haven't been given any figures, so i don't really know how much money we're talking about, but: if a server upgrade is the answer, then what if Steve set up a donation pool (via Paypal or similar), and those of us in the users' community who are willing and able - nothing compulsory - could each contribute a few £/€/$/whatever to help pay for the upgrade?  a hunded-dollar price hike (for example) might be a serious obstacle for one guy, but 20 of us chipping in a fiver each would be a lot less painful.  since the forums are here for the community's benefit, it would be a nice gesture if the community could help steve with the practical necessities to keep it working smoothly :)

This idea is made out of pure awesome.  If it'd help, I'd be in it.

Where's the "like" button? :-)

Also there is a data center behind me.  I can hook you up with a dedicated server.  Let me know what you want and I'll run it by sales

Just like to say.. I've had no problems connecting for last couple of weeks.
Thanks to Steve if you had something to do with that.

I haven't either.
Although I upgraded my router to a faster more stable one. So maybe because of that I'm not waiting for the next open connection to be just taken again from someone else lol ;p
