Hi there,
I am having difficulty merging points. I select two points, click "Merge Points" in the "Edit" drop down menu, and select the maximum distance, but nothing ever happens. I have even tried to see if it would work if I set the maximum distance to 100 (I have also tried values as low as 0.001). But still nothing. I also have the most recent version of Anim8or.
Any suggestions?

I'm new here as well, but love modeling/animating , etc, doing it for game development on my end.
I tried to merge at '0', but it won't do it, maybe scale works there, yet to try it.
I can get merge 100 or greater to work.
If you want realtime help, come over to irc.freenode.net, #amim8tor ;)
Good luck Harry

Make sure the points belong to the same mesh. If they're from two separate meshes, select the two meshes and go to Build->Join Solids.
If they're extremely far apart and you can't figure out the distance, try moving the points closer together. You can also double click on a point and input the coordinates by hand, if you wish to be exact.

Speaking of points or lines..
Is there no way atm, to manually select points or lines, vs drawing a rectangle around, which isn't precise ?
I read pertinent part of manual, but I saw no mention of this.

The manual is the best source for basic information: http://anim8or.com/learn/manual/4_object_editor.html#object_point_operations
As you might imagine, using the select tool (http://anim8or.com/learn/manual/buttons/b_arrow_s_sm.gif) with the proper element selected -- point/edge/face ((http://anim8or.com/learn/manual/buttons/b_pef_suu.gif)) -- allows you to individually select a point, edge, or face for further manipulation.

DRats, Im really sorry I wasn't clear..I meant..to select several verts,by like shift select , vs having to lasso them..
That comes in very handy when lasso'ing can be tricky.
I realize one can zoom, but that's a headache sometimes too.
anyway, just wondering.

On further inspection, I'm not even finding where the manual says anything about MMB or RMB for dealing with points , etc.
It would be helpful to point it out for those who may not have time to peruse a entire manual before starting to work with Aim8tor ;)

It's very nearly the first thing mentioned in the manual, under Chapter 2: Mouse Usage
