Sorry if this is a daft question, its really basic stuff. :-[
V0.98 (any version I’ve tried), object editor. When I select left view I see a view from the right and visa versa. Front looks from the front, back from back, etc. Is there a setting that flips left and right or have I just got it in my head that this is flipped?
thanks

Rather than thinking along the lines of the viewer's point of view, ie. looking from left, looking from right etc., think of looking at the different sides of the object. Imagine an object of a car. 'Front' view you'll be looking at the front of the car, 'Back' at the back (kinda obvious), 'Left' at the left side of the car (driver's side in US, passenger side in UK and Oz), 'Right' at the right side of the car, etc.

That makes sense, I was thinking from my point of view. I knew I'd feel daft when someone answered this :)

No reason to feel daft, I reckon I get it wrong at least half the time. The view I want is usually the other one!

I usually get it wrong myself. Maybe Steve should swap the two views? Definitely not something that Needs to be done, but it seems easy enough and could make it more intuitive. Seems like a mistake most of us are making on a regular basis.

I never used to make this mistake. When I started my last project I thought something had changed but I went to 0.95 and it was the same.
As ENSONIQ5 says it depends whether you are thinking I'm watching or I am the object As soon as I switched my head to being the the object it all makes sense.
I don't think it should be changed, but I do like to understand. :)

I've never had a problem with it.
[edit] The left/right view convention differs between programs. For example, 3DCoat and 3DS Max are the same as Anim8or in that regard, but Blender and XSI are opposite. I don't think it needs to be changed, personally.

A toggle might be nice...
