Hello Anim8or Community,
Does anyone know how the "extrude faces connected" tool can be made to behave like the example to the left rather than the one on the right?
Thanks,
Ron

Hello Ron...
I would not extrude any internal or external corners, rather I would bridge those after deleting faces, sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it very easy to do.

Hello Kreator,
Thanks for your reply. I was just hoping there might be some trick that would allow me to extrude faces in this way without having to give special attention to the corners afterward. It would save me quite a bit of work, since this is something that I do often.
Those are some cool images on your Anim8or Facebook pages. Are they all done exclusively in Anim8or?
Thanks,
Ron

Anim8or always seems to do this if you try and extrude them all at once, so you have to work with just a few at a time, there is no quick solution.
Our Facebook Pages are primarily all Anim8or, Though there are a few that have been Carrara Animated, Oh , and a Blender Teddy Bear!

I've given this a bit of thought and there may be a way to do it in Anim8or. It's somewhat ambiguous to try and figure out what kind of face extrusion the user would want. Let me do some experimenting...

if you add any new extruding features, be sure to leave in the old ones. I'd be very sad (as I think others would be too) if we had to load up an older version of anim8or import and use said function then export to re-import again to the newer version. But I'm sure that you would take that into account.

I agree with Cooldude234, I would not want to remove the existing "extrude faces connected" tool, as I am sure many people prefer to use it as is. I had in mind a feature that would allow extruding faces so that each face moves precisely the same distance from the original without any change in xyz orientation, maybe a feature that the user could engage by holding the control key while extruding, or something like that. This would be useful to me because extruding faces is the first step in making a complex bevel like in the attached picture, and correcting these faces can take a bit of work. In any case, Anim8or is a very fun and useful tool. Thanks for everything, Steve.

Makes sense to me to support both ways. Now all I have to do is write the code :)
