Hi so I noticed that the notes on this site to do reflections don't make much sense to me. And I read some threads talking about the Art Ray Tracer and they didn't make much sense to me either. So I'm looking for a "Dummies" version ??? of how to do reflections in Anim8or.
This is what I've been doing.
I've made a ice-like texture and given it a 50% environment map to make it look reflective and a transparency set to 50%. But need other objects in the scene to reflect in it.
So I open the material/texture and click on Attributes. (See attachment )
What do I do next?
I'm thinking that the attributes should be listed in the drop down box, but that is empty. So I think that I fill in all the blanks with appropriate classes and details...(brain freeze)

When the attributes box appears Click New
Type in the Attribute box specular
then check string and type in the box at the bottom reflection
The specular value of your material controls the amount of reflection
Make sure you have ART renderer selected when you render the image

Thank you sir, appreciate the help!

Slightly late reply, but I'd like to thank kreator for the reply as it helped me too. The manual really didn't help, I am afraid. One thing I am wondering if one can do is how to create a gold mirror, like the gold visors astronauts, cosmonauts and taikonauts wear on EVA. I've tried using the above, but it creates either a silver mirror (setting specular to 1) no matter the colour, or a faint and only slightly yellow mirror, getting more yellow but also more faint with lower specular values.

MITM, you need to set the specular colour to gold with a value of 1, and I generally set the ambient and diffuse colours to the same shade. The attached images show the settings and resulting render for a gold mirror using specular/reflection attribute.

Thank you kindly. :)
