Title: How do you make this wheel?

HI folks I'm new both to Anim8or and to the forum so if I posted in the wrong area please forgive me.

I just wanted to know how you create the wheel, or more correctly the mag in this picture:
I can handle the wheel no problem with that great tool the lathe.

I really like how it looks but I haven't been able to create something like this. So can any of the experienced members of this great forum please give me an idea of how this can be done, and if possible the processes step by step?

Try my YouTube Loco tutorial for wheels its basically the same and should help!
