sometimes when i try to cut faces or join solids, anim8or just crashes. here are a couple of files in question.

Hi, Deepthought! :)
is stranger this error, but you can DELETE THE INVISIBLES MESHES, selecting in LIST (http://www.anim8or.com/manual/buttons/b_list_u.gif) and DELETING THEY ok.
Do you can share the PREVIOUS .AN8 FILES, WITHOUT USING the JOIN SOLIDS or CUT function?
for we try and check what erros happens??
;)

if you try to cut the hat, it crashes. here's another one with the hat where join solids doesn't work.
-
YES,
here crash too when i try CUT OR JOIN...
the problem is the way then you made the faces.
see IMAGEM ATTACHAMENT
when you mader a model..
try MADEr CONTINUOS, POINTS, EDGES AND FACES OK..
i hope then this help you!

Deepthought, both of these files have errors in them. They both have a mesh that has texture coordinate flags for some faces but there are no texture coordinates in the mesh. Any thing that you try and do to them could cause a crash. I get a crash, as you say, whenever I use the cut tool.
How did you make these? I mean, what tools did you use? Can you reproduce it creating a new mesh?
I'll see if I can make Anim8or correct these kinds of errors when it reads file, but if you can give me instructions on how to make a model with this problem it would help me solve it at the source.

#097f-122 - Cut tool: Models with missing texture data crash.
--------
Status: Fixed for v0.97g.
--------
The two files had errors where the model had texture coordinate indexes on a couple of
faces but there weren't any texture coordinates in the mesh. Anim8or now repairs these
models when they are read by silently deleting any such texture coordinate indexes to
prevent malformed models in internal memory.

of course.sometimes i got file read errors because anim8or for some reason saved the file with -3s for texcoords so i removed the - sign in an editor.
-
-3s? That's weird. I saw the 3s in these files. I have no idea where these come from but at least this is another clue!
