Hey, everyone! I'm working on a pretty complex character model for an upcoming animation (hopefully next October is the release). He a big furry guy, and I need help learning methods for 'furring'.
I have seen the alpha mapping method, but I have never figured out how to get the maps wrapped around my character in a convincing way. Could anyone help?

Best way to do massive amounts of fur at the moment, asides from doing it by hand. I used a program called grassgen that had the same functionality and got decent results, though you will probably need to touch it up manually.
[edit]I notice you've already found it in the other topic. Just play with it until you get the results you want

For other results only change the alpha channel texture, color, number of faces in mesh target ..etc..
PS: "Specular" have be "0", for not has brightness in part transparent....

Wow, this is beautiful! This is definetly a very nice alternative when we have no particle hair.
I built a monster-like character, but unfortunately this hair I put on his ears doesn't seem to be rendering. Prior to that, I first did hair going down the back of his neck off his head, and that renders fine every time, but the ear hair is just showing up as black. Any idea how to fix this?

Ooh, I'm actually starting to see a portion of my problem... Apparently when I transfer the finished hair to a new model, it' doesn't bring the UV mapping coordinates along, so I'd have to remap each surface.
OR better yet, just do it within each object rather than transferring from a seperate object.
(Nope, that didn't work. It's actually NOT RENDERING alpha maps :| )
(DOUBLE EDIT: I apparently ALSO needed transparencies ON. but Still, the problem seems to persist. I'll update periodically.)

Sometimes when material textures go quirky, restarting the program helps get it back to normal. Otherwise resaving the texture and reloading it in a new material sometimes helps when that fails.

Thanks, Raxx. It seems to work now, I gues the problem was the I wasn't texturing my source correctly :P
So, do you know of any 'delete most' scripts? Preferablbly for points, lines, or faces?
