Challenge #31:Big Brother

Lotsa Windows

Deadline: March 1st, 2013 (completed)

This is a free-for-all with a twist. The final entry must be a still render. However, the catch is that you must also capture the entire process via a screen recording program! Use youtube or a similar video sharing website to showcase this.

This challenge will have a public poll. Vote for the best entry. Only still renders coupled with a youtube video of the process qualify.

I guess I should clarify so it doesn't confuse you..."Big Brother" refers to the book 1984. It's not the subject matter that your work has to focus on. It's a free-for-all, pick whatever subject you want.

As I just got inspiration for yet another brainfart, I'll bite. Though, I am a slow, plug-along builder much of the time... Does everyone REALLY want to see me take hours staring at a blank screen before producing something as phenomenal as a cube?

I would also like to point out that this competition is very good in terms of helping others understand and grasp how users use anim8or, by visually interpreting the process(s).

P.S. Arik I lol'd hard at the music in the second video ;p

Thanks, Dude... yeah, that song was a hoot! Discovered it a few days back, and it was actually my reason for thinking "Popeye".... as well as the fact that I like to smoke my pipe!

Ok, here's the first part to what I'm doing. It's a long vid...sorry but if I sped it up any faster then it'd be incomprehensible :P Some modeling and most rendering will be done in Anim8or, the rest in various programs.

Raxx, you HAVE to use that guy in an animation or something sometime. Just TOO COOL of a character to not. Really cool video, and I think I have what I'm doing in mind...

Alrighty, here's mine I completed across today.



My capture program glitched up a bit during my texture-building session, but most of the textures didn't show up at all in the final render. I had fun with this one; t'was a speed-build!

I cannot use my YouTube account all of a sudden

YouTube won't let me use my account because it says that it has to be linked to a Google account. Which is was linked too. So when I try to relink it, it says my Google account is already linked to a YouTube account. Now when I logged into Google with my Google account, it automatically logs me into youtube, with my Google account.
So my real name appears as the user instead of my handle name (what I prefer to use). And that made me a new channel, using my real name.
My instant thought is, well this must be linked to my google account, so I went through the horrible hoops youtube makes you do, and I unlink my account.
And it say "This feature is not available for this account."

So I can't use youtube, and on top of that youtube now looks like its trying to be windows 8. It actually hurts my eyes to look at and its giving me headaches.
So I can't do this competition it looks like.

I can get full screen to work.

I'm thinking of deleting my google account, recreating it, and linking that to my youtube, hopefully it will work.

UPDATE:
I did just that and it works now, lets hope the next time youtube updates, it DOESNT REMOVE my google account from it ):<
I'm not even capitalizing youtube or google anymore, because they don't even deserve that.
But now that is done, I have to go about redoing all my google+ stuff again
me = NOT HAPPY

UPDATE 2:
Nope, didn't work, I try to go to google plus, now its asking for a phone number WHEN I DON'T HAVE A PHONE (and I do not want one). But no reason to be yelling here, I just wish google would stop being a <insert hurtfull word here> about it

I do find it ironic however...
Here we are yelling about saying update anim8or,
and yet on youtube we complain the single slightest an update comes about.
;)

On a serious note, maybe if youtube  just updated small things here and there instead of waiting to update with a massive thing to overload everyone, and on top of that, they always update for the worse. I can't be the only one who misses the five stars  ???

'davdud101' really a great job as well. Liked it very much.

I did try this even though I don't have any video hosting accounts, but
CamStudio and I just didn't get along at first. I ended up losing too much video.
Hopefully I can add something next time.

Here's my still. I tried recording my progress, but Screen2Avi had other plans. So, in place of a video, I've attached a drawing of my original idea for the spacecraft. Everything modeled and rendered in Anim8or, postwork and textures in Photoshop.

It turns out that you can't use Screen2Avi unless you download a new codec. Here's my second attempt. Texture and music credits in the video description.

I've just started mine.
I recorded my work in real time, and I'm going to time lapse it in a video editor.
So far I've recorded about 1 hour and 15 minutes with a total file size of 3 gigs! :D

So as you can guess, I am recording in HD, and since I now have adobe premiere I can make the final image HD as well. SO HERE COMES HD!

Also does anyone know if youtube supports videos with higher playback than 30 frames a second? I want my video to be at least 40 frames a second.

cooldude234, can't say for sure since they convert the video uploaded. Perhaps you can find out at their website.

My research using Google indicates that there is no straight answer. Non from the youtube site, and every other site likes to give a different answer, whether it be 35 frames, 30 frames 24 frames, 32.134 frames or 60 frames (unlikely of that last one).

well if youtube doesn't allow it, then I'll post one to youtube, and I will make one that runs at something like 60 - 80 frames a second that you can download, with a link to it on the youtube video.

EDIT: The reason why I want to do this is so the viewer can pause, and do slow motion on the time lapse and view it in real time, so if they want to see how I did one thing, they can see me actually clicking the buttons and such. It's much like when you see a tutorial online, but it's so blurry you can't see what they are doing with the mouse. Same thing applies to time lapse, the mouse moves so fast you can't tell what it is doing.

Right now I have the model pretty much made, but I'm having issues texturing it. Hopefully I wont have as much issues with the landscape. But just wanted ja' all to know I'm still working away at it.

EDIT: I programs hate my model, it crashed about 30 different programs just because the amount of meshes that are in it XD

Alright, even though we had only two actual completed entries, since there were two other partial ones, I figured I'd stick a poll up there for voting, since it's been a while since we've had one.

lol, I still have the files on my computer. The trouble is I only have about 1 gigabyte left to work with, and saving an edited version of the video to upload on youtube takes that plus more. If only I had another terabyte, but I'll see if I can't find anything I can remove from my computer, at least temporarily.

Hey Raxx. Would be easier maybe if all entries finals were put into a line so could check out each one without searching through 3 pages to0 find final entries.  ;)

I keep running out of space on my hard drive to edit video, however I have another few gigs free after finding some useless video files I decided to delete.

EDIT: Decided to just drop this, the final product wasn't all too great and the recorders were taking up 30+ gigs and I need space in order to work on other video files
