Title: Need better rendering quality...
Post by: TheRetroZombie on April 13, 2012, 10:44:41 pm
I'm making a new intro and trying to find out how to render better quality.
Here's my current intro

you can see how blurry it is and how the lines are a bit jagged. Is there any software or video compressors I can use to get better quality?

lossless video compression is the best

For uploading to youtube:
- render your animation at 1280x720 for 720p, 1920x1080 for 1080p HD
- to keep the quality render them out as a sequence of .bmp files instead of an .avi file
- download virtualdub for basic video editing/compressing
- use a x264 encoding codec to compress your video (
)
- upload to youtube
- do make sure the initial render output from Anim8or has enough AA as well.

Thanks! A lot easier than rendering in AVI without the hassle of Anim8or crashing and virtualdub works great.

Wait, TRZ, you didn't know about that stuff? Just thought you might've, having seen your work and renders. Although I myself haven't as much needed to render as .bmp or .jpg (except for some games...), since it's a little bit more of a hassle when you have to make a folder for each animation.

I would always just render the default resolution. Rendering HD for me would cause Anim8or to crash for me when i render as AVI. Never tried .bmp.

Rendering seems to eat up a ton of resources. I've done most of my AVI renders with Truespace, but uncompressed AVI files are humongus. Also the larger the render size the more the file increases in size. I've used a 3rd party utility called Rad Video tools, but the supported formats are proprietary using the BIK and SMK formats used primarily for animated cut scenes in some video games.

Though it's not like I'm going to be doing big projects. I now just use Anim8or to make intros plus when I render it out all together since I put everything together in Sony Vegas Pro it won't take as much space.
